양국정부와 초국적 자본이 추구하는 국경을 초월한 세계화를 목표로 한미FTA가 비밀리에 추진되고 있다. 2006년 9월 6일부터 9일까지 시애틀에서 열렸던 한미FTA 3차 협상 저지를 위해 60여명의 한국원정단과 30여명의 재미교포를 비롯한 미국인들이 함께 이를 저지하기위한 5일간의 투쟁을 전개했다. 협상이 벌어진 컨벤션센터 밖에서는 FTA를 반대하는 시위를 통해 양국 활동가들의 국제적 연대라는 다른 세계화가 진행되고 있었다. 이들이 점점 서로를 신뢰하고 연대해 나가는 과정을 통해 우리가 원하는 국경을 초월한 자유가 무엇인지 생각해 보고자 한다. FTA를 비롯한 세계화가 진행되면 될수록 민중의 저항은 더 거세질 것이고 세계 민중들의 연대는 더욱 더 강해질 것이다.
The meetings for Korea-USA FTA have been held secretly, aiming at transcendental globalization, a pursuit of two governments and transnational capitals. In order to stop the 3rd negotiation for Korea-USA FTA in Seattle from Sept. 6 till 9, 2006, 60 expeditionary Koreans, about 30 Korean Americans and some Americans developed a 5 day strike. Outside of the Convention Center where the meeting was being held, another globalization meeting, the international solidarity of activities from these two countries was being progressed through this demonstration against FTA. We would like to think what the transnational freedom that we want is through this process of solidarity with trust among them. The more globalization steps forward, the stronger resistance of the people becomes, and the more powerful the solidarity of world people will become. |
