Financial sanctions on north Korea by the US has a “surprisingly bad” effects to the smooth progress of the six-party talks for China, disarmament of north Korea for the US, and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula for the DPRK.
Financial sanctions against North Korea is nothing but a concentrated expression of the “hyper-hostile policy” of the US toward north Korea.
The issue of financial sanctions via Banco Delta Asia (BDA) in Macau has played such a bad role as to make the six-party talks stopped for over 13 months. It was apparent to every party including the US that lifting the financial sanctions would be a prior step necessary for the progress of the six-party talks.
Altough it was not a direct agenda of the six-party talks, there had to be an intenive “dialogue” between the DPRK and the US about the issue of lifting financial sanctions as soon as possible in the 5th round of the six-party talks in Beijing. To the golbal dismay, it produced nothing for the moment. The six-party talks left behind only a chairman’s statement that says something like “We’ll return as soon as possible.” It is believed that the US did not express any interests in changing its “hostile policy” into “friendly policy” toward north Korea in the 5th round.
At this juncture we should remember that the issue of BDA, financial santions and hostile policy made north Korea walk out of the six-party talks for over 13 months during which it became a nuclear-weapon state by conducting a physical test on October 9 and returned to it as a NWS on December 18.
NWS would mean “power sate” in this hypocritically nuclearized world. North Korea is in rise, not in decline. It is an obstinately hostile policy of the US that introduced Songun Korea as a new NWS to the nuclearly oppressed and abused world.
In view of this reality, it is ridiculous to hear that financial sanctions has been “surprisingly effective.”
